How to subscribe to a YouTube channel via email.

I subscribe to a handful of YouTube channels using the built-in subscribe feature that comes with the platform. That’s great, but sometimes I don’t stop by YouTube very often or sometimes I sometimes I just really want to be sure I don’t miss a video from one of my favorite creators. In this case, email is my go-to way to get notified. The trick is figuring out how to subscribe to a YouTube channel via email.

Some YouTubers like Smarter Every Day or ever PewDiePie have added email subscription links to their channels and videos, but those are few and far between. Luckily, there’s an easy way to subscribe via email to any YouTube channel no matter if they have subscriptions set up or not.

Step 1: Go the Their YouTube Channel in a Desktop Browser

Pretty simple, just head to their main channel page in YouTube. Make sure you do this in a Desktop Browser rather than on your phone. For my example I’ll use JomezPro’s YouTube channel.

Step 2: View the HTML Source of the Page

In most browsers this can be done by hitting CTRL-U. Or you can right click and scroll down to “View Source”. What you see with be a bunch of text that you may recognize as HTML code.

Step 3: Search of the Letters “videos.xml”

Next, hit CTRL-F to search the source code. Enter “videos.xml” as your search term and hit enter. The first match will be for a URL that looks like this:

https://www.youtube.com/feeds/videos.xml?channel_id=UCmGyCEbHfY91NFwHgioNLMQ

Copy that URL. The moment this channel uploads a new video, it will show up in this feed.

Step 4: Use an RSS-to-Email Tool to Subscribe

Now we need a service that will watch this feed and send us an email when a new video appears. There are a few good tools you can use to subscribe to RSS feeds via email, but we’re going use Feedrabbit. Enter that URL in the box on their main homepage.

Then on the next page, hit “Sign Up to Subscribe.” If you don’t have account you can create one for free, otherwise you can sign in and you’ll be all set!

Whenever that YouTube channel uploads a new video you’ll get an email like this in your inbox! You’re all set, enjoy your new YouTube-to-email subscription powers!

Hi, I'm Gregg.

I'm a SaaS marketer and maker.

Never heard of me? All good, these days I don't chase influence as much as I do balance. By day I run marketing for Inntopia and evenings see me building SendView, but my happy place is playing in the mountains with my family.
