Pausing Work

Last week I talked about pausing marketing with everything going on around COVID-19. Today, I’m coming off a week of realizing that sometimes I need to take breaks from work too.

It’s been a really heavy couple of weeks for those in the ski and travel space like we are. And last week, as everything snowballed, I did a good job of stepping away from the computer, taking a quick walk, a few deep breaths, reading stories with the kiddos, and then jumping back into work.

This week, I didn’t. I pushed hard to hit some deadlines.

Too hard, in hindsight.

By Wednesday night I was feeling pretty beat up. So I took some time on Thursday to be outside, hang with the kiddos, give my wife a break, get some fresh air, and pump the brakes a bit.

Today, despite the economic and healthcare realities around us only getting more serious, I’m feeling much better. It’s hard for me to push pause – I pride myself in being productive – but given the road ahead it’s definitely a good lesson to be reminded of now instead of later.

Hi, I'm Gregg.

I'm a SaaS marketer and maker.

Never heard of me? All good, these days I don't chase influence as much as I do balance. By day I run marketing for Inntopia and evenings see me building SendView, but my happy place is playing in the mountains with my family.
